Between yesterday and today I spent 15 hours in class. I was able to take the ENPC, which is the Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course. This is a class that is usually for emergency room nurses on how to deal with their pediatric patients, but there were four of us that were pediatric nurses learning how to deal with the emergencies that can arise. I was a little nervous about the class because while much of the information is stuff that I use on a daily basis (ie: what are normal baselines for kids versus adults) the emergency information is fortunately not stuff I use reguarly. There was a big written test at the end, along with a couple of skills stations. I'm happy to report that I passed!
As a little reward for myself, I decided to stop by The Pearl, that great little ice cream/confectionary I found in downtown La Crosse. I had decided I only needed to get one treat, so I spent some time drooling over the case of goodies and ended up with this:
The Chocolate Mousse Truffle. Mmmm..... It was pure bliss! I love anything with chocolate, especially when it includes either mint or peanut butter, but just pure chocolate, wow! It was great to really savor this one little piece of bliss!
A while ago I stumbled upon a food blog. It was actually one of the blogs on the front page of Blogger and I accidently clicked on it. It was a fun surprise! The guy happens to be from Minneapolis and posts pictures and recipes of things he cooks or bakes. It turns out he's just a guy who decided that he wanted to eat better so he started learning how to cook. I haven't tried any of his recipes yet, but from what I can see, I'd say he's been successful! If you're looking for something to make for dinner tonight, check out www.desertculinary.blogspot.com and look through the recipes to see what you can find! Good luck recipe-hunting!
By the way, can anyone tell me how to put a link right in my message, so readers can click on that link and be brought directly to another website? [Thanks, Andy!!]

Kari,
When you're typing your blog post, type some text that you want to make into a link and then highlight it. Then, there should be a button in the tools at the top of your post window (just to the left of the "left-justify" button) that looks like the world with a little piece of gray chain links at the top. Click on that button and it will let you paste your link location in the window that pops up.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you don't have that button.
Kari, that truffle looks divine! :)
I'm going to check out that blog you stumbled upon, sounds like a good one!
Andy, I had tried a few things with that link button before, but obviously they didn't work. Thanks for the advice!
Kari,
I'm sorry, I don't think I described that completely, because it looks like the link still isn't working.
I think that what's missing is after highlighting the text and clicking the link button, the little window that pops up has "http://" in it but it needs to have "http://desertculinary.blogspot.com/".
Here's another way to do the link. just delete the link you already have from your post and then paste this text in its place:
<a href="http://desertculinary.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Cooking Blog</a>
After pasting it in, you can edit the text "Cooking Blog" to say anything you want. The benefit to doing it this way is that this will open the site in a new window, so that readers can just close that window when they want to go back to your blog. (If you don't want it to open a new window, just take out the 'target="_blank"' text.
I'm sure this is more than you ever wanted to know about this. :) I guess since I'm in a website customer service job now, I just can't resist trying to help as much as I can! :)
Andy,
Okay, I think I finally got it! When I had tried it earlier, I wasn't highlighting the text and then clicking on that button, I was just typing my website into that window that opens up when you click that button. I guess I wasn't leaving a place for people to click on and open the website. Then, when I just experimented with it again, I see that a new window wouldn't automatically open up so thanks for the tip with that! The target="_blank"> is important!
I can see that the comments from this post are ones I'll be coming back to when I want to do this again in the future! Thanks again for your help!
That looks and sounds wonderful! What a nice way to celebrate.
