LaCrosse, Here I Come!

I'm happy to announce that I've signed a contract for my next job! I'll be heading to LaCrosse, Wisconsin to work at Fransiscan-Skemp Hospital, part of the Mayo Health System. I have a 13-week contract from January 7th until April 5th, working on their Pediatric Unit. I'll be working the night shift again, but this time it's 8-hour shifts from 11pm-7am. This means I have to work more days in a week, but every day I'll have a little more time at home, having all of my evenings free. I did that a few years ago in Fergus and it seemed to work out pretty well.

I know, I know, you're thinking "why head back to the Midwest for winter?" Well, there are reasons to be near the Cities and ever since I decided to become a traveler, I said that I'd love every other rotation close to home. I can't have David grow up and not know his favorite Auntie Kari!! This contract has me working every other weekend, so I'm sure on all my weekends off I'll head back to the Cities. It's only about 2 1/2 hours away and that's a little less than when I lived in Fergus. There weren't any jobs in my specialty areas in the Cities, and the job I interviewed at in Eau Claire was something they wanted filled next week. So, LaCrosse was definitely my next closest choice, and after talking with the manager for a while, I think it will really be a great fit!

You can check out the hospital website at www.franciscanskemp.org. It seems like a good place to work!

So, this means that I'm excited to do stuff back in the Cities again! I'll be sure to let you know what my weekend off is just as soon as I find out. And, if anyone has been just itching to come visit LaCrosse, now's your chance! I guess I've driven through LaCrosse once, but I honestly don't remember anything about it. But, I've heard it's a beautiful area so I'm hoping that's as true in the winter as it would be in the summer. I can guess my sight-seeing pictures might change a little!

Congrats on your new job! It will be nice to be closer to David for a while!

Sorry about your trip to Victoria. I think we have all had days like that. And it's not just single people who talk to themselves. I do it ALL the time, it just helps me think. :o)

Awesome! We can't wait to hang out - that is if we can peel you away from David for a few minutes!! Actually, we can just get the kiddos together again!

Well, isn't that sweet! Closer to "home" and your nephew.

Of course, with all this blogging, it doesn't really seem like you are far away! Isn't that fun?
